Last spring I picked up this old timer on Ebay. One of the 90mm American Rev offerings from Superior Models a little shy of 30 years ago. I always loved this series, (something like 32(??) pieces), but frankly had not seen this one before.
He needed some minor work, with the orginal intention of painting him up as Sir Jeffery Amherst. As I started it was clear this was one rotund fellow, and ended up With General Braddock, July 1755. Combination of Acrylics and Artist oils. He will be making the trek to the Long Island Show later this month.

A close up.............Egad, what a way to pull out the painting misqueues the naked eye tends to gloss over.

Excellent work Walt. I have quite a few of the old Superior figures I painted from back in those days. This one brings back some memories too.

Considering the age he doesn't look that bad  .And you did a fine job of it too.

Thanks for the kind words...figures the "old" guard like Roc and Guy remember these pieces. Guy.........do you know what/who this figure was orginally supposed to represent. I had never seen it before and it came with no instructions or base (remember the circular base had the name in relief). I guessing but pehaps something like "Senior British Officer"??????????

Walt, The figure represents an officer of the South Carolina Regiment of Horse 1750-1761 and was copied almost as it appears in plate #390 published by the company of Military Historians. The figure was sculpted by Lionel forrest and though dated in terms of quality still remain a favorite among the first large scale figures I was introduced to years ago.~Gary

Thnks Gary........Guess I wasn't even close. The uniform I have applied is from a color print of Lord Jeffery Ahmerst in the Seven Years War. I suppose the style fit many regiments of Senior Officers, with variations on the color scheme.
