Braid work help please!

Before I fully commit myself can any of you give me some tips on braid work? Here is a pic of my first try I'm not real happy with it and i cant figure out if it's to dull or I'm just not going about it the right way. Any suggestions would be great.

I'm having the same dramas Andrew. Yours looks 10 times better than mine, although I know that doesn't help you.

This is what i should do after seeing this done in my club.
I intend to do it myself on the same bust.
You pick every little tinny spot with a highlight after you have done a wash with burnt umber. After that you go for every deeper recess with a darker light then burnt umber (sepia)..... Its alot of work, but alot of fun. When it is finished you get something that was worht the effort.
