We need a jealous smilie! I'm just learning to sculpt, and look forward to reaching this kind of level - I'm very interested in the Crusades period and like this one a lot.

Thanks for your plaudits but the figure is straight out the box with a different head stuck on him.I couldn't sculpt to save myself but i don't mind the odd conversion

Nice one Brian. I particularly like your treatment of the black cloth. The wall provides a nice backdrop as well. Very atmospheric piece. ;)

What colors did you use on the cape? I have been trying to get almost that same color on a different figure.

Thanks,
Jim Patrick

Hi All
I was starting to wonder how everybody kept mentioning my sculpting and i now realise i stuck the pictures in the sculpting forum.Theres no fool like an old fool as they say.
All i've done to the basic figure is add a hood to the cape and change his head
The cape was undercoated with Humbrol Natural Wood 110 then a mixture of Raw Umber,Yellow ochre and white oils were the only oil paints i used
Can anybody out there change the piccies onto the correct forum?????
Brian

Consider it done......and thanks for the mixes ;) . I paint almost exclusively in acrylics however I'm a firm believer that color is color regardless of the medium. I'll play with these colors (approximately) and see what I come up with.

Thanks,
Jim Patrick

Hi Brian

just an absolutely beauty, who makes the figure and who makes the head, if you already haven’t mentioned it...

Just Great

Dave

You got some lovely graduations going on there Brian...from the deep black down through all the dusty weathering..I think it looks great.
Let us know when you come up with a title for him...is that a hint at the Grail..?? ;)

Very nice indeed...Roy.

Hi Roy
Glad you like him. Here's some other shots of him and you'll notice i'm still managing to make crappy photographs with my lighting, can't seem to get consistancy in background and lights as usual, but what the heck i'll live with it and call it the" Supersnad syndrome",but don't worry troops i don't think it's contagious.
As for his name i haven't a clue ,and yes there is a hint of the grail there and the brown cloak instead of the usual black one a hospitaller would have worn,so as a little experiment i'll open it to the forum to suggest what should go on his nameplate and see what transpires

Hi Dave
The figure is Soldiers Barberossa, the head is from EMI's Doge Francesco Morosini with his hat carved off and the hair sculpted on.The only other changes are i sculpted a hood on his cloak and used a chalise instead of the helmet that comes with the kit
