Guys,

When I look at Verlinden 200mm bust series, the size of the head doesn'tlook like they're in 1/9 scale (alot larger in scale).

What about SEIL 200mm bust series, are they the same size as Verlinden (think to purchase one)?

Other manufacturer such as Mig-production, Warrior, Pegaso... bust which written as 1/9 scale, are they similar size as Verlinden 200mm too?

The sizes of models in nominal scales like 200mm, 250mm, even the common ones like 54, 75 and 90, have always been a bit woolly. Bottom line is that how it's measured has always varied from sculptor to sculptor a bit because they tended not to work out what the actual scale was.

It's gotten particularly bad in recent years with a lot - I think the majority in fact - of 54s from European makers being over 60mm in height.

Anyway, if one uses a consistent measuring system a 200mm bust should equate to roughly 1/9 but there's no guarantee it will.

No way to know I'm afraid.

The Verlinden Carabinier General bust is advertized as 200mm, but it is visibly smaller than the other busts.

This is a interesting question but also one that is unfortunately leading into a endless discussion about the difference in scale and size.
Artists work with a set of rules to make a bust or a figure in such a way it is pleasing for the eye, some do it by the look alone and others use a model. (preferably a live one.:D )
If they use a set of rules the figure is best discribed in size for there is no direct way to measure and calculate the true scale of the figure.
When using a model one can measure and calculate all sizes of that model into any scale.
In the case of using a figure next to a scale model of f.i. a car or tank it is supposed to be in the same scale.
A sized model would work only, if by way of recalculating, the figure is in a reasonable size.
Let's take f.i. a german tankcrew member in size 54mm next to the scale 1:35 for the tank.
The true length of this figure would be 54 mm x 35 = 1890mm
This could be possible, for even during WW2 there were very tall people.
The downside to this is...it just doesn't look right.
For a bust one needs to know the average size of a human head to determine the possible scale it's in.
I hope this little story makes any sense (or I've gone gaga.

I recall in my distant Past that a 54mm was measured from the bottom of the feet to the figure's eyes.
Tradition holds true according to the company ( not all ). I'm working on a '54mm' Seil figure at the moment and out of curiosity measured it after reading this thread. It measured 54mm from feet to eyes. I will miss that company even more now!

Yes ;) , but it`s an exceptional bust IMO, even within their Napoleonic line of really fine sculpts. I`ve always been surprised that the Verlinden busts never seemed to get the praise they clearly deserved.

I agree. He's a handsome fellow. One of my favorite Verlinden's.

:)

Thanks alot guys for all your valuable feedback. My intention was not to stir up the topic of scale comparison.... Just to find out the size vary between specific brands...

I've been painting 120mm figure (full figure) all the while. Recently got the itch to start painting bust :)

Thanks again.
