I am refering to the figure variety and not the female one.
I was wondering what peoples preference was reference bust size for painting,i personally like to work in 1/10 scale for sculpting but was wondering do you as painters prefer 1/6 scale or maybe some other?

Steve

Sorry,Steve I only dropped in cause I thought you were talking about the other.~carry on mate.

36 is good, 38 is better.............ooops, sorry just had to get that in there.

Bust scales are really subjective, but if I were to pin one down, I'd say I'm a 1/9th guy. I find 1/16 a bit small, 1/10 is a good start, but a solid 1/9 is where I'm most comfortable. I do have some larger scales in the army and up to 250mm is never out of the question. Hell, I even have a few 1/4 scale dudes, but they tend to sit on the shelf far longer than the others. HTH,

So from what im understanding a female bust with big busts in 1/9 would be a good bet then LOL.

By the way does 200mm translate to 1/9 scale ???

Steve

200mm for me on one side and the other...........don't have a preference its all about the fine detail attached to said item :D

New to busts, but....

..am enjoying my China lady. bout right for a newcomer. Not too big, so I dont have seemingly acres of flesh to do, nor so small I need 800x magnifacation to do.

Have looked at other, larger bust sizes, felt intimidated.

Saying that, I have had to endure comments about my first bust, with a nice bust.......

But what I like about a bust, is the fact that I can still try and give life to something, without stressing about kit, legs, garb south of the belt line, groundwork.

That may be a minor niche for me.....

cheers
Jamie
