Anybody know of a camel either by itself or as part of a kit in scale from 75 to 120mm? I know Andrea has some excellent ones in 54mm and there are probably others, but I can't find them in those scales. Didn't Verlinden have a 120mm camel? Anybody got one of those they'd part with?

All the best,
Dan

Dan I know that D.F.Grieve has a 16th Lancer on a camel and that's at 65mm. I own the kit... beautiful one indeed.

Thanks fellas!

I found the two out-of-production Verlinden kits I was looking for.

VPI1461 Cavalier Dromadaire Egypt ca. 1800

VPI0982 Dromedary camel lying down

If anybody has one of these or another that I'm unaware of and wants to part with it, please let me know.

All the best,
Dan

Thanks Chris and Xenofon - Thanks for your suggestions! The question is related to a guy asking about a commission - a British Army Imperial Camel Corps WWI period figure. Might be fun but I don't fancy trying to sculpt a camel. It may come to nothing - we shall see.

All the best,
Dan

Hello Dan,

Verlinden had at least a couple more of camel riders: a Roman cavalryman and an Arab Legion soldier. You could try these also...

If this turns out to be unfruitful, maybe you should try the webpages of firms producing zoo animals and the like, Schleich for instance has those in 1:24. They are made in a kind of hard polytene which could be workable.

Dani - Thanks very much! Those are actually pretty darn good. I saved the site for future reference. The camels, some of the horses and some of the other animals are worth remembering. 1/24th is a pretty good scale. Have you ever used any of them in a diorama? Do you know if you can remove the paint and re-do them? How would I buy something from them? They didn't seem to have any online sales.

All the best,
Dan
