Actually $40k is just the starting bid on eBay so maybe a Richard Branson will come along and pony up a couple of million.

(y)(y)(y)! Cheers, Nap & Colin! .... I belted the sound up to here the purr of the 'Merlin's', ... I have Spitfires , coming over my house in circuits, 2 or 3 times a year! That sound is unmistakable. But to see the only two airworthy 'Lancaster's', together would have been a dream to witness.:D

Thanks for posting!

Lots more on YouTube. There is also a smashing RAF Facebook video of the Cdn aircraft shot from the BoB plane's rear turret position. Can't find that on YouTube though.

Saw them on BBC tv last night, just wonderful to see.
Used to have a friend who flew in them in WW2. When I asked how many sorties he made over Germany his reply was 19 1/2. The other 1/2 flight he told me he learned to parachute.

Was in Mote Park in Maidstone today, had a nice surprise... saw the Lancs fly over en route to a display at Headcorn. They were flying in very tight formation, with a modern plane ahead (filming?) and the Spitfire and Hurricane quite a way back.

Saw the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fly over our house on Thursday, flying low after appearing at Eastbourne Airborne, an incredible sight! The noise from the engines, you could feel it through the pavement!! It makes you think what it was like when these monsters went out in high numbers? Two Lancasters together, a rare and wonderful thing...
