Hi everyone,

Here I am again with another job. This time it is a Pegaso reference in 75mm representing a celtic warrior in the IV century BC. As it was to be expected, both the assembling and the casting are very good and well thought out. Even though, I have substituted the original lance pole with a steel rod of the proper diameter, leaving the banner, the shield and the head apart to paint them later on.

For the cape I have decided to divert from the pattern of squares and colors of the box art, making the squares smaller and the colors less vivid, which I think goes better with this kind of garment. Of course this is something purely personal, since those capes can be decorated with a lot of different motives and colors.

For the time this is how it goes, I hope you like it.

The paintwork looks really good so far.

One thing about the cloak, I don't think that kind of pattern was possible on early looms. More info in this older post.

I think that's outstanding. It'll be a beautiful piece when you've finished. I like the cloak. You must be a very patient man with the steadiness of a surgeon.

That weave looks fantastic! I'm from Dundee which was the loom Capital of the world (due to the Jute Mills) a long time ago and this looks exactly just like the examples I've seen in the jute museum before it shut down.
Absolutely superb reproduction and as a Scotsman I think personally it looks more than authentic....without actually being there of course. ;)

Don't you have any ancient Celtic photos Gells ? I do have something from ye olde youtube which certainly makes it seem plausible

Hi Steve,
Yes I do mate they were taken just before the iv century but I don't know if it's an actual cloak worn by this guy because of lack of research.;)
Hope this helps,
Gells

Hi Robert, very nice painting. Can I ask how you did the shaft of the standard? Did you mask it for painting?

Cheers,
Greg

Wow Robert that looks superb brilliant job (y) Jumping the gun on Robert Greg that's how I would paint it you can also taper the masking tape to give it a more spiral look.
