centurions medallions

What were these medals made of. I would like to weather them so would rust, patina etc be appropriate?

If you are referrring to Phalera, they were generally of silver or bronze origin and given out for bravery.

IMO, like soldiers of any age, they likely would have taken great pride in these awards and NOT allowed them to tarnish.
