Hi All,
With huge thanks please see our new Waterloo bust sculpted by Carl Reid.
He depicts Piper Kenneth MacKay, 79th Highlanders, WATERLOO.

A nice idea and, as others say, love the puffing cheeks.

Just a few ref pics which may be useful:

Feather bonnet (officers): note its 'stringy' appearance

A piper would no doubt have more feathers, but this is interesting.

Ostrich feathers: and a feather duster showing how they cluster (us older types will remember them)

79th's pipes (probably): note the relative length of the drones

Thank you Neil, that is really useful information.
I think the ostrich feathers are the max I can do for casting, they show the individual feathers but need some bulk to cast.
The pipes are an excellent reference and as these pics are the master pics I can add an extra length to the kit to extend the large drone as required.

Hi Graham,

Yes, I think that getting any hair/feather trim 'right' is a real challenge (to say the least). I think the issue to my eyes is the 'scale' effect of the l/h side of the bonnet.... but having said that I'm sure that once painted this will not be so obvious.
