I hope that you guys aren't getting tired of me posting 1/48 scale figures so often. I can promise that it won't continue without break as I will eventually loose the drive and inspiration and not do a thing useful or constructive for a period, however long it lasts.

Assuming that I haven't quite worn out my welcome yet-having had no complaints sent me-I would like to present this latest figure. As I am not completely confident that he will be readily recognized as who he is supposed to be, and to avoid the embarrassment of having to explain and make excuses later, I'll simply state that he is supposed to represent Charlie Chaplin in the film 'The Kid'. With that in mind I've included a shot of the two together for consideration.

The usual materials were used, so I won't list them here, again. It might be well however, to point out that usual simply means what I have been using for the last several months, these things change as you guys inspire me to try different things. MS+GS for example is something I only tried early in the last year having never considered the possibility of blending putties before, on my own. I don't, now, recall which of you gave me the idea, but as you will likely know who you are, thank you for it, it works very well for me.

Enough of that. All that is left is to say, I hope you like this new offering of mine.

Ray, glad to see you went with the Chaplin figure to accompany the Kid. The last pic of them both together makes it obvious who it is, even though he's missing his trademark prop, the cane. BTW Great detail work on the folds and creases in the clothing, looks very natural.
Look forward to your next post.

Cheers Ken

This one is really nice Ray. It really captures the way he looked in the kid. I find it kind of funny that the kid grew up to be Uncle Fester. Jackie Coogan was responsible for helping to protect later child stars from having all of their money stolen by their parents, as Jackie's money was. He was married to Betty Grable. So he did not do too bad for himself.

Thank you Gordy, but it seems I have some competition in the area of smallness. Scibor's dwarves are amazing, and smaller even than my Kid figure!

Anders,
Thank you for the support and encouragement, I promise to keep posting so long as there is interest, and I have something that might be thought worthy of the forum.

Balázs,
That's the greatest of flattery's, your wanting to buy one of these. I will certainly help you in this regard with the manufacturer as I can.

Ken,
It did feel a bit awkward not posing Chaplin with his cane but I did want to remain mostly faithful to the original photos I was working from. I did take some liberties just the same, first in that both figures are looking to the left instead of right, and second in that the kid isn't pointing at anything. They seemed a bit more generic without the pointing and therefore likely to have a larger market appeal with the market they were made for i.e., model rail road guys. Once the kid was finished I had to make a second Chaplin to go with him just to put the first figure into perspective and place. There was a bit of reluctance on my part (not too difficult to overcome obviously) to make another Chaplin the same scale so soon after the first but I feel, for me, that it just had to be done errrr, for closer or something like.

Thank you for your kind remarks and I hope to have deserved them. It is difficult however, to be completely convinced though when there are so many beautifully done figures here to compete with.

Jeff,
I really had no idea who the Kid was portrayed by, imagine that Uncle Fester, and he scored Betty Grable too. Almost makes a guy wish to be bald and heavy set, almost. I'm looking forward to hearing from you again, and sent you a reply earlier in eager anticipation.

Gary,
I'm actually really surprised and pleased with my recent productivity, it is unusual for me. It is especially unusual to experience such a long and inspired run of sculpting as this latest one of mine. I could only wish it to continue but know, and fear, its end will arrive no matter my desire that it not. Little things like having to get back to the 'real' job and life's other trials will for this run, bummer.

Thanks for looking it is incredibly inspiring and humbling having you guys do it, much more so than the mercenary act of selling the work.

Best Regards Everyone,

Ray
