Afternoon all. A few renders from latest sculpt which will be shipping from this week. USMC 'Tunnel Rat', circa 1968. Uniform details... Armed with .45 cal pistol Jungle boots dms (3rd pattern) Tropical combat trousers (3rd Pattern) M1955 Flak jacket (2nd pattern with pockets) The figure will be broken down into 5 parts plus 1 piece terrain section for ease of assembly. (Solid figure the terrain section will be hollowed to minimise weight)

**The trooper is in the phase of investigating the tunnel entrance, not yet committed to entering. As tunnel rats worked in pairs, his partner would no doubt have held the flashlight while he probes the entrance to the tunnel complex. Didn't want to include flashlight shining in the tunnel as this would be a pain for those who don't paint osl. However, just to clarify I will include the Fulton flashlight in with all three scales in case someone wants to add this. (composition loosely inspired by the attached image and several others of guys checking the entrance.) Will be available in 1/35, 75mm and 120mm. (Will add images of the actual model later this coming week.) The inner tunnel section bends to the left giving the illusion of depth out of the line of sight.

Flashlight is being included looking at Marks text

This looks good and will be a good project

Perhaps we might see a rat climbing out or maybe going into tunnel ......must have been incredibly scary

He isn't holding a flashlight at this point as he's investigating the tunnel entrance. While there are naturally loads of images of these remarkable guys underground using flashlights, there also several images of guys above ground in the earlier phase of investigating the tunnel entrance without flashlights. (Tunnel rats always worked in pairs, so in this instance his buddy would no doubt have held the flashlight and passed it to him. This composition was very loosely inspired by an image Ill upload shortly. However, as someone may want to include a flashlight, I will include the Fulton Vietnam era issue flashlight in the kit. I will be covering a completely different underground figure in due course armed with flashlight and 45, although that's not for everyone (some people shy away from osl subjects - very challenging) Hope that helps. It looks like he is investigating the tunnel entrance without commiting. Obviously if he was going to go down the hole he wouldn't be wearing his flak jacket as it would severely limit movement.

No. I wouldve assumed that too but not the case. There are lots of images of marines inside the tunnels still wearing their flak jackets


Although there are more without. In all likely hood most would probably have removed them. Some went down wearing only trousers and no service shirt at all

Long time ago I was a bartender and made friends with a man who stopped in every night after work at the foundry for two whiskeys before he went home. He noticed one night I was reading a book about the tunnels in Cu Chi Vietnam.

He looked at it and didn't say much. The next night he brought in a photo album that I still remember to this day. He was a tunnels rat almost his entire tour and the pics were gruesome. He killed many men and never mentioned it.

I still miss you Bill.

He'd like this figure.

His entire tour? Thats incredible... unimaginable. Think I read that book Steve. The Tunnels of Cu Chi. Wish I still had it, great book.
