Hello all,

Have just finished shooting some new pictures of my Chinese Ch'in Dynasty Emperor. The model is 120mm and is sculpted and painted by me a few years ago. More images can be seen at :Chinese First Emperor

Cousin Vinnie,
I remember seeing it in Chicago a few years ago when .... well, you know the story  Anyway, it amazed me then and it still amazes me. Great job on the robe's pattern and on the photo's new background (y)

I have the great honour of having this figure (signed by the man himself) for some years now, in my 'Unpainted Classics' closet.

I've nearly forgotten how great (and accurate) a figure it was until I recently bought the DVD of the 'Emperor and the Assassin' which deals with the same subject in glorious detail (and no GCI), .

Give yourself a treat. Buy the figure, buy the DVD and have many, many hours of pure bliss. 'Nuff said.

Q. :)

Hi Cousin Pete,

The Emperor model is surely a special model for me, that gives me the first Chicago gold medal:) something sure worth remembering. As I am getting my painted models back from Sentry Miniatures which most of my works are being displayed there, I am planning to reshoot all my earlier works to replaced the scanned photos ( which are a bit harsh in quality ) with digital images. Well, a lot more work has to be done. Glad you like the composite image, thanks.

i really like the clothing pattern.
Hi Kisifer,

Thanks for the kind words. Apart from the painting, what I really enjoyed with this figure was sculpting the dragon pattern on the base. They are not painted illusions, the clouds and dragon are sculpted one by one with putty and are all raised details in a 4 X 3.5 cm square.

Hiya Quang,

You really got me blushed:) I am also having great honor to recieving your Daimyo and it's a great figure ( I mean not the size but the sculpting:))).....)

Saw the "Emperor and the Assassin" two years ago but haven't compare it with my Emperor. The sculpture was based on several Chinese books about Chinese costumes and written record on what the Emperor wore at that time. There is an interesting article of the Ch'in Emperor in the present issue of "Military Heritage" but make sure not to use the illustration as references as they are painted in costume of much later period. ( more likely to be Ming Dynasty 1600 AD )

Just hope there are more books ( in English ) about Chinese costume with more accurate illustrations. Frankly, those with Osprey are awful and inaccurate.

Hey Ah Wai,

What can I said that others haven't?

Great and excellent sculpting and painting as always.

Hi Ah Wong,

Many thanks. Will work on more Oriental subject matters in the near future.

I have always been facinated by the Mongol / Chinese conflicts and find your painting and sculpting of this figure quite beautiful. I will have to acquire this figure for my collection. Thanks for posting him Vince.
