I have just finished reading David McCullough's _1776_ and have decided to do a portrait of Col. Rall (probably at White Plains, but I might do Trenton). The only problem is that I have yet to find a picture of him, and I've been looking.

Good luck, Matt. :( I've been "Googling" myself and can't find an illustration.

I hate to ask this (Gary D. may throw-up his lunch) but was he portrayed in the movie "The Crossing"? What did he look like in the film? This could give you an idea.

Jason,
That movie is what first got me interested in Col Rall. I'll have to see if I can rent it, since I have yet to actually attempt to purchase the DVD (is it out on DVD?)

I,ve got it on order through Netflix. I've found a print Troiani did of a SGT from Rall's regt., which will help with a second figure in what will probably turn out to be a series.

Matt, I've yet to see a period portrait of Rall. There is one of Von Riedesel which is more than likely a post war portrait. There is a painting of Rall surrendering at Trenton that I thought was done by Emmanuel Leutze, but I'm unable to find it on the net. You may have to settle for a conjectured version of Rall. The majority of American and British Generals are easier to come by, with German subjects being harder. Good luck.~Gary

P.S. Jason, Yes, he was portrayed in "The crossing"....gak!

Thanks Gary, I knew you'd be the go to guy on this one. I have a copy of the Trenton painting, but it is to small to show much detail. Conjecture it is. One other question, would he have carried a spontoon ( I think that's what they were called), or would that have been a company officers "weapon"?
