After a couple of disasters with this piece, I've finally got it finished.
To be honest, I'm not happy with it, but at least its finished an I can move on to the next project.

Hi Malc it looks good to me, the blue on the coat has worked out very well indeed. I don’t think you have over worked the colours they have blended very well and look natural . I Like the weathering on the jacket too.

The face has come out very well indeed nice skin tones. The flag was always going to be a difficult one to get right. I think you have done a good job considering the issues you had. I do like the dirt wash effect on the flag it looks like it’s been in the field.

The tassels have worked out well after your disaster. I personally like what you have done and I would be pleased to have it I’m my cabinet no problem.

You learn something from everyone you do and no doubt you will have taken something from this experience which will help with future projects. Just my opinion I’m sure others have theirs. But that’s a job well done.

Thanks for your feedback Steve, I really appreciate.
The flag was certainly a challenge, I found it quite difficult to hold while I was painting it.
I did learn a few things while working on it, which I'm sure those techniques will come in handy again.

Time now to concentrate on one of my next projects, which will keep me busy for a while.
The Siege of Panama. :)

Beautiful work. Can't help but think of that great scene in "Gettysburg", where he calls for bayonets.

What a film, and I watch it from time to time.
Jeff Daniels was excellent as Chamberlain.
I also have a friend who was one of the extra's in the film and was in a scene with Chamberlain.

We can always improve and we are our own biggest critics, but this looks really good to me. I really like the way you handled the flesh tones and the figure is full of character. The only thing that jumps out at me a bit is that bush/twig behind him. It's quite bright and doesn't seem to integrate well with the rest of the groundwork. It may be the photo emphasizing it, but maybe you could tone it down with some washes?

Thanks Nigel.
It may be the lighting, but I'll definitely take a look, and dull it down if need be.
