Colour help please

Hi, I was hoping that some of you would have some suggestions for the colours I need to paint a WW2 German sheepskin coat as pictures in this verlinden photo.

I'm using vallejo model colour but i just can't seen to get it right.

Sheepkin coat

Hi ,
Can I point you in the direction of Brett Avants book "Getting Started Painting Diorama Figures in Acrylics" in which a german figure similar to the one you have is on page 53 , also a russian coat as well which you could adapt details are (all Vallejo caolours)

Base : 819 Sand and drops of 918 Ivory
Shadow : 941 Burnt Umber
Deep Shadow : 941 Burnt Umber plus black
Highight : 918 Ivory
High Highlight : 820 Off White

Thanks for that Nap, i'll try that. I've had a look for the book and netmerchants have some, i'll order it at the weekend when i get my pocket money off the wife.
 
Hi Chris,

I don't have a ready mix, but I think you cannot go wrong with beige, sand, light (even orangy) brown colours. The colour of the material varied a lot and sometimes they were dyed, also, they got dirty quickly.

I agree with denes with the colours he has given , can't really go wrong as there is no one definitive colour for sheepskin ...it got dirty very quickly ..so plenty of weathering especially around the bottom edges .
