Remember that there was quite a range of colors for the confererates from butternut to gray. And even quite a bit of range in those colors, too!

I have some color references for oils, but I think you paint in acrylics? If you want the oil info, let me know and I'll send.

I love this bust, so show us your in process pics!

Keith

Keith you're very kind. I'm interested in the butternut colour and, yes, I paint in acrylics, but you could send me the oils info.
Thank you Keith

Hi, here is my first step. It is only painted the base colours and the first lights on the face.
All comments and suggestions are wellcome.

Looks good to me too :)

Have you decided on a mix for the butternut or are you still experimenting?

Looks excellent Jamie! Very good!

Whats the flesh mix for this one?
Thank you Anders. Here the mix goes:
Vallejo colours.
base: cork brown (843)
lights: base + beige (AC 39) + sunny skintone (845)
shadows: base + cadmium maroon (859)
midtones: deep orange (851) +purple (959) + magenta (945)
I have a question: Have I to say "shadows" or "shades"?
Cheers
Jaime

...........are you going to highlight any more?
Hi, Guy. Yes, I think the figure needs it. But i don´t find the right mix . The butternut colour is very difficult...

Great work so far Jaime. I will agree with Guy, more highlights will give a far better result.
