Excellent sculpting and likeness
Any idea how to contact DES? I ask because myself and another person have tried contacting them via their website e-mail and received no reply. I thought maybe they were gone

What is the obsession with SS tank commanders?
How about some Brit or Canadian or US or maybe even French Tank commanders?

And don't get me wrong, I'm not having a go specifically at the SS subject. One man's terrorist etc.....
But surely the market is saturated with WWII German what nots..

I know what you mean, but they always seem to be popular. And of course ancient Chinese proverb say: "Company A not earn money from Company B selling models of Figure X".

To be fair there are a few U.S. tankers knocking around, and a couple of Brits as well.

PS: And at least he's not pointing!

They're still around but they're very quiet compared to some companies, and not as widely known in the Anglosphere. They were regular traders at Euromilitaire in Folkestone from the 1990s and into the mid 2010s before Euro went tits-up. I have one of their knights in my cabinet.

I couldn’t agree more

Great sculpt!

Hope the skull badge on his cap will be straightened before mold-making.

Adrian

It is replicating what is in the picture, and it appears that his badge had indeed fallen sideways.

Gee, you’re right! That’s a true eye for detail!

Still looks odd though. I’d say the situation warrants some artistic freedom....

I agree that it looks odd, but my thought has always been that if you are representing a specific subject from a photo, sculpt it as accurately as possible. If this were a generic German/SS bust, than yeah, make it as it was usually seen, the right way up.

Agreed. And very accurate of DES to spot this.

Still, straightening the cap badge does not do too much historical damage I think. Somewhere in his career, perhaps just before the previous close-by explosion, or bump against the tank copula, his cap badge must have been straight.

Anyway, ultimately you are right. If it’s from a photograph, it better be as in the photograph...
