Hi All

Please see attached pictures of a new figure from Bonaparte Military Models (www.bonapartesmilitarymodels.co.uk). The is a 200mm Medieval Knight/Crusader and will be available early March. It includes an optional mask.

I see a lower arm and hand holding a sword, but see no way of it attaching, unless its another "dangling in the air" bust hands.
 
I would say they are shoulder boards at a guess Ron very popular for a short while around 1300ish they carried heraldry etc not really protection as such as I recall give me a bit and I'll check

As seen at 6 and 7 in these pics, commonley called ailletes and mainly worn in France or heavily French influenced areas

You're right about the Ailettes, Steve. Here's an example close to home (to me).
A portrait of Guillem de Montcada II, painted around 1285 and a contemporany illustration, both showing his ailettes with his personal heraldry painted in them
