Guys,

Following my earlier post of WIP - Samurai Warlord, here's the completed painted figure gallery.

I love Japanese Samurai figures.... 2 that attaract me the most are Warlord Uesugi Kenshin, and his enemy the legendary Takeda Shingen.

Uesugi Kenshin was born in Echigo in 1530, the son of Nagao Tamekage, the Deputy Protector. On becoming lord of Kasugayamajo Castle at the age of 19, he subdued the Echigo area and later became the chief of all the samurai in the Kanto area (eastern Japan).

Kenshin was one of the many powerful lords of the Sengoku period. He is famed for his prowess on the battlefield, his military expertise, strategy and his belief in the God of War - "Bishamonten". In fact, many of his followers and others believed him to be the avatar of Bishamonten, and called Kenshin "God of War".... He used the first word "Bi" from "Bishamonten" as the avatar of his war banner.

As well as the Battle of Kawanakajima, when he fought on five occasions against his old enemy Takeda Shingen of Kai, he went to war in Kanto, fought against Oda Nobunaga and moreover, visiting Kyoto, expended his energies in attempting to unite Japan. Having passed through an era of wars like a gale-force wind, he passed away in 1578 at the age of 49.

Read more info about Kenshin from WIKIPEDIA.

OK, enough of history lesson, below are images of my version of painted Uesugi Kenshin 120mm figure.

Note I've hand painted some floral design on the silk garment under the "Tsutsu Gote" (armoured sleeve) and the garment under the leg armour plates.

The original sculpt of chain mail on the sleeve were not so good, I've sand them off and rusing strips of net from the bridal vail and glue on...

Lastly, the debatable "tiger" skin... Personally I'm quite satisfy with the result after painted, although I agree the original sculpt looks more like a bear rather than a tiger.

Thanks for looking and comment are welcome.

skilled painting

like the details you have managed, like the idea of the bridal tulle to replace soft detail.
(must remember that)

and your research into the figure is impressive.

like how you did the mon symbol - looks right.
well done!
