Comrade in Arms 1812.
An little vignett showing an Soldiers bitter retreat, with a fellow drummer boy during the Napoleanic Wars.
I have tried to paint the expression of fear in the drummer boys face.
Also created an muddy road, with one little yellow flower, and remains from the summer.
Figures are from Andrea miniatures, and are painted in acrylics.

Beautiful work, sad scene. Children do not belong to the war, although the reality is different. After all, nobody do not belong in war... Anyway, an impressive vignette!

Roy, I really like the way this all came together. Especially like the painting of the facial expression. The fence is a nice addition as well. And you really pulled off the muddy road.
Please share how you achieved the road as I would like to duplicate this on a base in the future please! Only thing I would add is some discarded gear: cartridge box, scarf, shoe stuck in the mud, and a broken sword, etch. I imagine when the French retreated a lot of stuff got tossed to the side of the road. All in all, I think you did an outstanding job!!!(y) Appreciated you sharing this with us!
