Hello

On ebay I have found following postcards from 1897

Costume01.jpg

It seems, that there must have exist more of them. And I think they were sold in France and in Germany.

Know anyone here something about this cards?

Thanks

Ulrich

Suggest you refer your question to the Great War Forum and ask them to identify a web site or an expert in the area. I've seen many similar ones on the web printed in 1914, etc. plus the common portrait photo of a soldier made into a post card and ready for mailing to the soldier's family.

Here's a site that deals with French portrait photos mostly.
www.military-photos.com

All the best,
Dan

Hi Dan

thanks for your answer. I knew the cards mostly from the time after 1914 with a portrait photo of a soldier. I have a great poster with a photo of my grandfather, who stay in in german army during the WWI.

But this postcards seems to be for uniform-collectors and I have thought, because they are good to use as a pattern for painting a figure, someone else here at this forum had collected them.

But I will try it at the other forum, too

Thanks

Ulrich
