nice detail, did you have plans for some movement/action poses with your other ACW figures and just curious re the sizing. Does 70mm actually mean 75mm when comparing to other 75mm The reason I ask is I see some reviews that measure 70mm as 75mm.

regards zane

Thank you for the comment guys!
I hope to see some of you at Euro Militaire.

Zane666 In answer to your questions.

Yes we have plans to release more with movement and we are just in the process of finishing off our next release. We wanted a at ease pose for our first release as it was the era of photography and a lot of soldiers had photos taken before they went off to war. A lot of soldiers also posed for photographers in there camps throughout the war which was what we wanted to capture in this sculpt.

Our figures are 70mm scale. Which is 70mm to the eyes with does make a standard soldier approximately 75mm in total height.

I hope this helps and many thanks
Rin

Rin, what scale are you using for the equipment? I know it is difficult to look at images and opine on a sculpt, but the rifle looks much too thin. The soldier looks like he's holding a broomstick, not a thick weapon. One other comment, perhaps for future subjects - the equipment these men carried was heavy. Pack straps cause furrows across chests and shoulders. The tunic bunches where straps pass by. To my eye, this man appears to be carrying ounces, not pounds, of equipment.
Please understand, I want your line of figures to be well received. I want to see what other sculpts you have planned for the marketplace. But you have to realize, as I'm sure you do, that we have scores of "Standing Union Infantryman" figures, in every conceivable scale/size and medium (lead, white metal, resin, whatever), available in the market today. I fully understand the business approach of offering a static, "plain vanilla" first figure - I'm just concerned that with the multitude of other similar figures available right now (example 1: H&V's Iron Brigade figure), perhaps a more dynamic offering might have been a better choice.
Yes, we are spoiled today with outstanding sculpts, and in most cases, exceptional castings. The level of talent and artistry needed to bring a product to market today is daunting, to say the least. Notwithstanding those obvious issues, it is also true that if you are competing for my dollars/euros/pounds, your product must be exceptional in many aspects - both technical and artistic - so that I reach for YOUR figure, rather than the the other guy's.
I hope this does well. I will be anxious to see it "in the resin", to make a fairer assessment. But I also hope that future releases have a little more "soul" - more reasons for me to want to buy them, paint them, display them, and tell others about them. Don

Thank you for your comments SWralph, Maclc, megroot and Don Johnson!

Don Johnson I will try and answer your questions.
We are working in inches with our historical figures and as we use digital sculptors these are set in Zbrush. We have also set our figures at 70mm at the eyes which makes our soldiers 6ft tall. I know the average soldier during this period was 5ft 6-8 but we wanted to produce the figure true to the 70mm scale. All measurements were take from re-enactment equipment especially from Dells Leather works who were a godsend when it came to the Knapsack!

I agree with making our next Union release more dynamic and give it more character and we will. We are finishing off our next release as we speak so I will post a update on Facebook and PF when we are finished!

Again thank you for your comments and I hope I have answered your questions

Rin
