Hi everyone;
I finished this classic a few weeks ago, and haven't had a chance to take some pictures until this evening. You probably recognize him from the David Greive line, reissued by Debra Raymond miniatures. I also tried to use this figure as a tutorial by painting along with Danilo Cartacci's book which features this same figure. I was especially happy with the way his face turned out and this has changed the way I approach painting faces.

I still can't get comfortable using acrylics for large areas like the red uniform. I still use Humbrol enamels and artists oils for that, but I did use acrylics for the belts, collar and cuff facings and other small details. Maybe one day I'll try acrylics exclusively. But by all means please feel free to chime in here with your advice and observations. Thanks for having a look!
Cheers;

Glenn, I have never cared much for this figure until now; this is a great job. The sweat trickling down his face is superb, and the red is exactly how I imagine it to have been. Good job on the whites too. Thanks for sharing!

Glenn,

This is a classic figure and you've really excelled yourself on it.

The face is brilliant and the beads of sweat rolling down his face are a beautiful touch.:D:D:D

Once you feel more comfortable with acrylics, you'll discover how versatile they are and I'm sure you'll use them more.

Well done mate. Now for some tartan heh??;);)

Excellent !! you did a great painting job on this classic figure !
The sweat beads are a great touch, I believe the one Derek Hansen painted 15 years ago to a sublime standard had sweat beads too - very well done.
You got the colours right, and your shading and highlighting is very nice and subtle.
One thing that I especially like is the backpack, you handled that very well and it looks like a real calfskin pack.

kind regards,

Johan

This is an excellent paint job on a wonderfull figure, I like the little touches like the sweat etc
Cheers

Thanks very much one and all! Like I said earlier, I got the idea for the sweat beads (a thin line of Testor's Model Masters clear gloss acrylic) from Danilo's book. It's kind of cool to see how something so small can make such a difference in a figure isn't it.

PREMIUM!

I struggle with faces and have poured over that book and other face techniques... I can see Danillo in your work and congratulations on a very nice face, excellent painting on the figure... and like everyone else, bravo on the sweat!!
