Now I know why Maurice's 200mm Lifeguard isn't out yet! Another beautiful sculpt. This looks like an updated version of the Roll Call's Royal Scots.

Magnificent group of figures. The only issue is that the sculpt perpetuates the uniform errors in Wollen's painting - headgear, post 1811 uniform. However there seems, at a cursory glance, no reason why this couldn't depict a similar action scene from a later campaign with some careful research. Of course this could be presented for what it is; a magnificent recreation of a superb work of art.
Will there be a mounted Polish lancer?

Very nice formation of figures, like the whole thing, looking foward to seeing some painted versions.

Thanks for this Geoff you are quite correct. Most Peninsular war paintings depict our lads wearing the belgic shako which was not issued until 1814 so none would have been seen during the battles in Spain and maybe only a few during the latter stages of the war by replacements sent from England. The reverse can be said of the painting of the 28th in square at Waterloo by Lady Butler, which depicts them wearing the belgic shako when that particular unit still wore the stovepipe. At the time of sculpting MC was aware of the historical inaccuracies as he is quite meticulous in his research, but his remit from me was to do the sculpt as per the painting so in the words of Robert E Lee ' It's all my fault'. It is anticipated that alternate headgear for the set will be available. You'd think that these artists would have done a bit of research on the internet....

Understanably the highly skilled work of the team at Maurice Corry Miniatures is much in demand as can be seen on the pages of PF but ideally I would like this set to have a further 4 or 5 foot figures. I would then look at the mounted officer figure which can be seen to the right of the group in the painting and maybe the lancer on the receiving end of a british bayonet.

I appreciate that not everyone can afford the initial outlay of purcasing these sets of up to ten figures in one go but both sets lend themselves to being displayed as single figures or grouped together.

Cheers

Accuracy issues aside - and I don't want to get bogged down in that debate, which always rears it's head every so often - this is top stuff.

By some fancy headgear work, one could include the Stormtroopers 120mm 28th foot Waterloo colour ebarer and have both colours in the scene....although not true to the painting then.
