A Fixture
Hi friends, starting a new project.
The Tannhauser is a 13th-century German minnesinger, commonly identified with a legendary knight who sought papal absolution after years spent in revelry with Venus. The legend forms the basis of an opera by Wagner
History
Born into a family of knights of Salzburg, he participated in the sixth crusade of 1228, following the Emperor Frederick II Hohenstaufen, along with a crowded company of minstrels and courtly poets, including Freidank and, perhaps, Neidhart von Reuenthal.
Despite the riotiness in abandoning the "joys" savored in the beautiful "land of Puglia", he probably stopped for a long time in the East.
He then made a wandering life as a poet and a singer. He attended the court of Vienna of the Duke of Austria, Frederick II.
The legend
According to a legend, in his life Tannhäuser finds the Venusberg (mount of Venus), the underground kingdom of Venus, and lives with her for a year. (The legend cave really exists in the Horselberg mountains). He then leaves the goddess full of remorse and embarks on a journey to Rome, to ask forgiveness from Pope Urban IV. The pope reminds him that the sin committed leads to eternal damnation and that forgiveness is possible only in the presence of a miracle: the flowering of his pilgrim's staff. Three days later Tannhäuser returns to Vienna and the pilgrim's staff blooms while the funeral of the beloved woman passes.
The legend was met in the Volkslied and set to music by Richard Wagner in his Tannhäuser.
Being a minnesanger I started working from the musical instrument. For the Tannhauser I chose the Celtic harp.
After looking for inspiration from different images
In the end I arrived at this result
Cheers
