Hey guys,

Thanks for all your help with my search for a digital camera on my previous topic. Thought I'd create a new topic to get a fresh start with this.

Does anyone have any knowlege/opinion of the HP PhotoSmart 735 (3.2megapixel) digital camera? It seems to be fairly cheap (price wise) for this type of camera (under $200.00). Does HP make a good digital camera (or should they stick to printers)?
The HP is a 3.2 megapixel cameras vs. the Nicron 2100 (2.0 megapixels) for about the same price (and it has macro down to 0.1 m (is that 1cm or 10cm?). Does anyone out there have any experience with this HP camera or previous models?

Any pros/cons you can think of?

Any other cameras you may know of for around the same price (~$200)?

Thanks for your input. I'm really itching to get started with the pictures.

Jim,

I would not go less than the 3.3 mega pixel. What I did was find one that is good and what you need from anywhere, then look at the site I told you about and the prices should be considerably less. The other thing is you don't have to pay taxes on the camera. Just a thought.

Hi Jim,

Also buy a tripod. you won't be able to make macropictures without it. I have an HP935, and I'm quit happy about it. It takes nice close up of 54mm figure head and shoulders.

Best wishes and succes with buying your new camera,

Gino

Guys, I got my NEW Coolpix 885 on Ebay for about $269.00 (US), which I believe retails for around $600.00 and I am pleased with the photos I've taken so far. The macro capabilities are pretty good.~Gary

Hi guys, I use a fuji finepix f602. It has excellent macro capabilities and you can use 6million pixels or 9million megapixels. Unfortuantely its about £500 and the image sizes uncut average 2mb each!!! Alot of cameras use the term megapixel, its a bit misleading, the higher the amount of pixels ( not megapixels) the better the image. I think the processor in the camera fakes pixels, giving a false image.

Hi all

The term Mega pixel and pixel are related in as much as the cameras pixel rating ie if its 2 megapixel for instance comes from multiplying the width and height of the cameras shot (ie the image) together

1280 x 960 pixels = 1 Megapixel
1600 x 1200 pixels = 2 Megapixels
2048 x 1536 pixels = 3 Megapixels
2272 x 1704 pixels = 4 Megapixels
2560 x 1920 pixels = 5 Megapixels

to be fair monitor screens only can take 72 dpi though I was told that was mac and Pc could bre96 dpi but I have never heard that from anyone else. I do believe colour magazines are printed at 300dpi, black and white can be printed at 600dpi though over that the human eye has trouble picking them out.

phew had to think then

Robin

Hi Robin,

thanks for explaining that. I know now why I don't see a difference when I set the pictures at 300dpi, and why magazines ask pictures of that size.

Thanks again,

Gino

Hey Guys,

Just thought I'd let you know the search is over, my wife and I purchased a Kodak CX6330. New pics to follow soon.
