Review Dolman Miniatures 90mm 'The Adventures of the Rocker / The Wild One'

So what do you get for your money; well the kit comes in a plastic box, inside a cardboard box, both displaying a comic / stylised image of the completed item. Straight off you get the feel of how superbly this has been designed and cast, there is very, very minimal clean up required and a quick fit test of various items show they just go together so easily its like they were never separated.



Inside the plastic box we have X clear plastic bags, the parts inside are grouped logiclly, which should make it easier to find bits and bobs;












Two things you notice is a) front forks in resin as well as white metal and two handlebars, with hands moulded in situ. one has the rear cut away so it can attach to the bike, but the other one doesnt.

The bike body is a superbly piece of resin casting and a great representation of the Triumph Thunderbird. The fins on the engine are exquisite as are all the other bits;













The Exhausts are cast as seperate parts and simply plug into the corrosponding holes on the engine;



There is a bag of white metal pieces for connection leads/wires on the engine;



Bag of the white metal pieces, including the grate/carrier(?) that sits on top of the fuel tank, this simply justs drops into place, superb;

The handle bars are cast with the hands in place, this could be a tricky join as you need to ensure the arms fit into the hands and that the handlebar fits onto the body of the bike, i can say this works like a dream. Only thing missing is some decals for the dials, sure i will be able to find some on the web somewhere.



The seat comes in 3 pieces, the saddle and the relevant springs, pedals and chain guard;



The rear suspension parts are cast in white metal, again two sets including - not sure why, but not complaining;



The wheels, as they are, have very neat treads and are pre attached to the tyre guards, but with an undercut to give the impression that both tyres are seperate, vey clever. A neat little plug on the rear wheel plugs into the engine to give a very solid join, just minor clean up of a couple of mold lines, nothing major;

The wheels are spokeless to give the impression of speed

The figure comes in 7 pieces, two choices of Head, 'Tintin' and Johnny Strabler (played by Marlon Brando in the 1953 film 'The Wild One'), left and right arms, main torso, left leg and right leg.

The main Body comes cast wearing the leather jacket from the film , with the BRMC (Black Rebels Motorcycle Club) wording and logo nicely cast onto the back of the jacket, just two small casting plugs that need sanding, no need for the razor saw anywhere on this model;




The jacket has nice zip details and creases cast in, along with button details and a nicely cast belt with loop holes which form the top of the jeans










The Legs, with boots cast integrally have nice details, with creases subtley cast in place;

There are only a few seam points that need a bit of filler, blended in.

So the question's as always; is it worth it and would you recommend it, I can say on both counts a big resounding Yes. Its a limited edition, so not sure how many, or if any are still available, but i would say grab one while you can.

Are there any instructions with all this MC bits to fit ?

As it's limited perhaps a Snoey might have been a good addition

Will certainly be fun to paint up

I don't if your joking or not, I didn't create the piece so haven't broken any copyrights. Who is doing the suing in the 1st place and under what grounds would you as an individual be sued under. The only bit pointing to TinTin is the head. he isn't wearing plus fours or any type of sweater associated with TinTin.

and I understand that, but I can't see how any one could sue me or anyone else who has purchased the kit, which was in good faith. its like airband scanners (listening to aircraft communications) its illegal to use them but not to buy them and you can even buy them at airshows !

Of course they can't and will never sue you or any buyer of these kits.. only the company producing them is at risk… 'Tintin' is a huge money printing machine !
