Historical Background:

The Drummer Boy of Chickamauga, 1863 was young Johnny Clem who had volunteered for service with the 22nd Michigan as a musician. At the battle of Chickamauga he was promoted to Sergeant by General Thomas for his actions there in shooting a Confederate Colonel. In the years after the Civil War he rose to the rank of Major General.

This figure is cast with 4 pieces. Torso, head, hat and base. Very cleanly cast with minimal seams or flashing.

The above torso shows the attention to detail Alan Ball has given with the head fitting down into the neck cavity.​

The head does show boyish features.

Above the hat is cast separtly so as to better paint the head.

Thanks for the review, I have had my eye on this figure since I first heard about it and having seen pics of the real Johnny Clem the figure seems spot on.
