hi this is my version of a miniature titled "nightmare" through LebenStudio. I wanted to tell a story of a dark dungeon, but what is the purpose of the lone figure? Is he guarding that that resides behind the door, protecting us, or is he protecting who lives in the castle?

Initially I had the idea to just put him on a simple base, but nothing worked. Then the base idea grew and grew. There's rats and pieces from old GW kits, shelf made from balsa wood, copper rods, and plasti card used for other things.

As the figure was fully completed before I even built the base I had to think carefully about how I would paint the groundworks and harmonise the whole piece together. The stonework was painted using only primary colours plus black and white to strengthen contrast. Then I used turquoise, dark sea blue and orange brown glazes to add colour to the stonework. I purposefully kept the area around the figure lighter so as to draw the eye to the figure with so many other details kicking about.

Hope you all like it!!

Hello again, Jason:
Wow, this is a very nice presentation. You really have
a feel for colour. That you picked a shade of green for the
"masonry" instead of the usual "grey" says a great deal
about your artistic abilities, in my view. BTW, (oooooops,
that means By The Way; also WIP is Work In Progress,
and SBS means Step By Step; in case you didn't know)
I do quite a few fantasy and Horror type subject matter
myself. As John says, you don't have to worry about what
particular military colour is correct, with this genré.
