Recently started this bust from Mitches’ Military Models - the Eagle’s Last Advance. This portrays the Eagle of the 1st Regiment of the Grenadiers of the Imperial Garde in its final advance up the slope in the late afternoon of the Battle of Waterloo. Another nice sculpt by Carl Reid.

I have to risk my soul for a remark about the ever repeating story of the 1rst Grenadiers a pied of the Old Guard making their way up the slope at Waterloo - only to be beaten back by brave British troops of the 1rst Foot Guards that finally adopted the name of "Grenadier Guards" in remembrance of this action: This has never happened.
The 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 1st Grenadiers including their eagle standard were kept as a reserve in the area of Rossomme as a fall back position during the final attack of the Guards column.
General Petit, who commanded the 1st Grenadiers stated in his memories ‘…the 1st Regiment of Grenadiers formed …two squares…The 2nd Battalion to the right of the main road…dominating the small track which ran between the village of Planchenoit and the main road. …The square of the 1st Battalion formed on the left of the main road, on the height that the Emperor had first occupied.’ https://projecthougoumont.com/trying-to-understand-the-guard-attack-at-waterloo/

Nevertheless great work on this bust so far and my remark is just for the guys that are interested in history...
Best, Martin
