Here is my painting of the 1/10 Bastogne bust from Young miniatures. Always a pleasure painting Young’s figures and I couldn’t help being immensely inspired by master Kirill’s fantastic box art.

Hi Magnus
Appreciate you taking time to share with us here.
Especially like large photo which gives a good sense of your painting approach, brush stroke by brush stroke.
Intrigued by your palette on this version, much bolder than my own, what have you used for orange tones in outer corner of eyes and shadowed top of of left cheek please?

Also nice studying your eye details including two glints per eye, got me thinking...

Thank you very much Mike! I used a lot of Vallejo Royal Purple to my palette to try to achieve a cooler look for the skin. The red/orange is from Kimera and also Their warm and cold yellows. Everything including clothes, equipment etc is mix from these colors including Vallejo Black and Ivory and Kimera Pthalo Blue red shade. Almost every colour is mixed, but the corner of the eyes is mostly pure red. For the cheek, so many layers back and forth, probably my base for the skin with some warm yellow (and of course orange that I have in almost all mixes).

Cheers Magnus, very helpful & could see Royal Purple, also a favourite of Ernesto’s.
Particularly interested in your use of orange, may have to invest in some Kimera this year.

Great work Magnus.
I really like how you did the webbing and the leather shoulder pads. It really stands out.

greets,
Raj
