My thoughts exactly Carl - that sort of wedge would buy you the real thing :ROFLMAO:.

The real deal probably only cost half that new at the time as well. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:.

By the way I saw the Airfix "James Bond and Odd Job" go for 218 Pounds earlier today. Crackers! (Wish I had a couple in the attic, mind).

Seriously?

I do have that kit in my attic, it's a real dog, I offered it to my son to practice airbrushing, but he never built it.

Yes.

If it's the original '60s release in the old-style box, stick it on eBay. It'll go for daft money (provided it's unstarted and in decent condition).

Strange. This was at £820.00 with 40 bids yesterday, now it's down to £52.00 with 4 bids. What's occurring?!

And the original posting for the car model at the top of this page looks to now be withdrawn due to an early auction end by the seller. Smells fishy.

That happened to me once when I was bidding on an historical signature that no once else was showing interest in and the seller decided that he didn't like the outcome that was appoaching (i.e me getting a bargain).

I think eBay has squandered a lot of goodwill with both buyers and sellers over the years. I rarely look anymore.

Yeah it looks like there's definitely something dodgy going on.

If you click on my original link it says auction ended, but if you then click on "seller's other items" it takes you to his selling page where this kit is suddenly (within the space of - what - an hour) back up at £509.00 with 12 bids, but is now a private auction with bidders' identites protected ;) . My guess (and it's only a guess) is that there's a genuine rare kit collector (or possibly two) vying for the model, but the seller is also shill-bidding on his own item in order to up the price.

Steve, It's now been marked as "Listing ended" so something is going on. That said, one of these very same kits DID sell a few days ago and went for about £650.00! An old "Sweeney Sytle" Jaguar (MK 10?) kit from the same range went for about £400.00 as well so they are obviously highly collectable amongst those for whom these kits 'float their boat' so to speak. Gary

Just a note. On the original link the seller did say that he had two of these kits for sale. Not beyond the realms of possibility that he is bidding up himself but also not unusual for an avid collector paying what to most of us is over the odds for an old plastic kit. Ironic thing is I remember building this as a kid.
