A Fixture
Ok, here I am with another installment in the review section. Up to bat this time is Andrea's "Rock'n Roll", SG-F70. As anyone can clearly see, it's Elvis Presley. For those of us who are not too paticularly fond of Elvis, try not to get......all shook up.
What you get are 11 neatly cast white metal parts. Seems and clean up aren't a problem for the most part with the lone exception being a mold/pour plug on the side of his guitar (pronounced "GEET-tar"). Some detal will probably be lost here unles I can come up some kind of miracle. We'll see about that.
Assembling the figure will be a little difficult as you have to ensure you the legs aligned exactly and the upper torso needs to be aligned as well. The reason behind this is the back of the jacket he's wearing is sculpted on the back of the legs. No serious problems here, just be careful. More on this in a sec. When I was trying to get this together using "blue sticky stuff", he was jumping all over like I had.......stepped on his blue suede shoes. Pinning the figure will be a bit of a problem as elvis is standing up on his toes almost. Not much room here to drive a metal rod up his heels. I couldn't get the fig to stay up on his base so I had to prop him up against it.
Now, you can see the back side of the King. I drew arrows on the back of his jacket to show you where to put putty. DO NOT put putty on the side flaps of his sports jacket. These flaps are supposed to be there and besides, they helped Elvis a lot when he jumped all around while he.......danced to the jailhouse rock.
Now, a little about the base. It's a pretty small round base designed (to me at least) to go in round recessed bases. I don't have any this small but I did have some Andrea bases around so I tried one. On the back of the box, Andrea reccomends PR-03 or PP-05. I don't have either. What I do have is PP-02. The metal base fits well enough but there isn't any room for any sort of nameplate. Here is the pic of the base and hopefully you will be able to see how it fits. I didn't measure it but the base appears to be about 1" in diameter.
Honestly, I'm really looking forward to painting this figure. Not only because I'm a Elvis fan, but also because this kind of figure is so relaxing. Just like my Spidey figure. Now, which colors will he be in? Don't get any.....suspicious minds. The gold outfit would be awesome but I'm not sure I could paint it to do him any justice. Just in case any of you need some reference for this, you can find it just by clicking on Elvis. Need pictures? Theyr'e here. All 52,000 of them! What can I say? that many can get me......all shook up.
Ok, now if you still don't like Elvis, all I ask is to........don't be cruel.
Thankya, thankya very much,
Jim Patrick
