I've been dragged kicking and screaming into WWII for this one (Thanks a bunch Steve :nailbiting: ) it's Steve Readdie's Para. I've added a ciggie because being 2 Para he must have bummed it or nicked it off somebody else ;) . Any advice on adding grime to the face especially welcome along with anything else you care to throw at me.

Steve

Great job that Steve. Every good serviceman loves to bum a tab, except rich submarines. In terms of grime you could try the weathering gear forge world do. Ive used it and its pretty good stuff. However im not sure what affect it would have with non FW models.

Ta Joe I find those weathering stick type of thing a bit heavy for faces great for boots and kit though

I appreciate you being RN don't know much about dirt or sweat mate :sneaky: but it tends to go that colour when mixed

DPM started on the smock it's not as easy as it looks is it ? Any advice here very gladly received another couple of head shots too I think I have the grime ok now

It is a difficult camo You've picked.

Although I like your colour choices, your version misses the characteristic streaks of this camo pattern. May be quite easy to still add though.

Not yet having done this pattern myself I can only advise you to have a look at a thread about it by fellow PF member Mark Benette, Gothicgeek. He has excellent colour mixes and tricks to get the pattern right.

Cheers,
Adrian

Thanks Adrian I have tried to streak it but it obviously isn't enough to show up well, bloody stuff  I knew I should have stuck with Medieval :cautious:

Hi Steve,
Stick at it, I did a WW2 para Arnhem and I know how how frustrating it can be. I did find some good advice on here. I had a good reference picture that I followed, a great paint mix that was posted on here. The other tip I picked up to unify and tone down the camo was to spray (at a low pressure) the Dennison with very, very thin diluted black coats, letting thoroughly dry between each until you achieve the desired effect. Don't forget to add your X21.
Another tip I picked up for the weathering was get some kids chalks from the pound shop. Grind them down to a fine dust add your paint to simulate the effect you want, I chose brick dust for mine.
Hope this gives you some food for thought mate.
cheers
Richie

In a fit of pique at my other main WIP (bloody Chasseur) I decided to ruin what little was left of my sanity and eyesight by doing the ground work and adding some 9mm spent cases to it  I also added a bit of fencing to break it up a bit. Cases were fuse wire carefully cut to length and painted a dirty brass, fence twisted fuse wire and cocktail sticks (cheap me ?)
