OK I know that to many it will be sacrilege but because of some disability I have to resort to using products which make life that bit easier. In that context has anyone tried using the eyeball transfers produced by Archer Transfers?

Geoff

I haven't Geoff, but I would imagine they would have to be trimmed slightly to avoid the startled look.
As to them being sacrilege, if needs must.
All the best,
Carl.(y)

Hi Geoff, I have tried these transfers and unlike the rest of their range i found them really difficult to use they broke up really easily, but that was just my experience hopefully it will work for you good luck

Hi Geoff
I have never tried them but as Carl says if needs must.
In respect of decals breaking up; when I make up F1 Kits and the huge number of transfers I always use Micro Sol and Micro Set. These solutions soften the transfer (Sol) and then tighten to the curve of surface you are sticking it to (Set).
Hope that this works for you Geoff,
Cheers and Seasons Greetings,
Keith

I've never held the belief that anything is sacrilege if it pleases you, it's your figure do it how you want Geoff, I have used transfers myself for bits that I just can't paint to how I want it and will again if I need to, it's just snobbery I think to criticise what somebody else does on grounds of "aesthetic" merit.

Geoff!
I have a couple of packs of these eyballs 54mm through to 1/8 th, like youself I am having difficulty with, Free-Hand. ... Carl is correct in saying they need to be trimmed, and they do fold-up easily. However, depending on your prefered scale of figure! you may find yourself using 75mm eyes for 90mm pieces etc. Yes they are still quite fiddly.. but a bit of experimention will be needed. Often I have used them as a template for my own eye, co-ordination. Just see how you get on.

Regards,

Mark

thCA3LYBFS.jpg.. You dont want this look, believe me!

Why feel defensive? Is a transfer eyeball any different than a transfer aircraft marking or rank symbol? Both could be free handed but people accept theey are not usually done that way. In fact at IPMS I expect you would probably be penalised for the finest hand painted aircraft symbology compared to transfers.

I am waiting for transfer tartans for kilted figures. :(

Sorry - just being a smartass! I mean I'm waiting for someone to invent them, not waiting for an order....but it could be a business opportunity. Applying them over the pleats would be a pain though.

Many thanks for the responses.

Mark that Marty Feldman look is what I end up like after trying to paint small details freehand.

28mm admittedly but they've been done.

Applying 28mm eye decals just ain't on my wish list of new frustrations in life I need. Painting them in that scale HAS to be a lot easier than decals. Its a black dot for heaven's sake!

Hi Geoff,

www.zotz-decals.com also do eye decals for humans as well as creature eyes, have a look at the bottom of the decal page. I didnt check out the sizes buit they might suit and I am pretty sure that the quality is spot on. I also have heard that they are very hard to get looking right but may be worth looking at.
Love to know how they go
Ben

OMG!!! have you never used the Tartan paint? ;)
Have a great Christmas Guys and see you at the other end.
Cheers,
Keith

Thanks everyone, I've ordered some of the Archer ones so I'll see how I get on with those. All I need now are transfers for; highland stockings, diced bands around highland headgear, oriental patterns, various camo designs, tattoos, etc plus off course tartan paint, all of course in the complete range of scales.

Just joking I think.
