Yesterday I spotted this figure on Facebook buried among a bevy of other photographs.

I have now established at it was only available until December 12th at 9pm italy time which is very disappointing as I would love to paint one.

It is a shame that it was only available to devotees of Facebook. I am a member, rarely post anything as I don't consider myself an interesting enough individual to tell the world what I am doing and don't have the time to trawl through facebook everytime one of my "Friends" decides to post something. Bill Horan has so many friends he will probably die from lack of sleep...LOL

I can see many advantages to facebook especially during a pandemic and when people are suffering from Loneliness etc. It is also a cheap way of getting products to market for small traders but surely it has not become the only way to advertise a new release..........I am sure many of my generation in the modelling community feel the same about facebook, in fact many have not even joined.

This experience has proven to me the value of sites like this and most probably it's value to those businesses who use it to promote their figures whose releases I am happy to support.

Agree with you wholeheartedly, Keith. I would love to have had this figure.

Maybe Nap could give this producer a nudge and tell him about all the potential sales he's missing by not being on the Planet.

the producer is Maurizio Bruno, I think he can easily sell them all ......... MAB on planet

I managed to get one of these, limited edition, its produced by the very talented Maurizio Bruno. This is his second release. I have him on my facebook friends lists so get to see his posts, he sells out through a dedicated selling Facebook page that you need to be a member of and ask him to add you. , Facebook is useful for several things at times although I am not that fond of it I have to get use to the idea that its the way things are evolving now.

He is not really missing out on any sales as these are limited additions and are sold through Facebook so sold out pretty fast without having to advertise on different sites.
Guess you have to go with the times and the flow or miss out.

It is the second release by Mauritzio Bruno (What was the first???) I've left messages on his facebook page but no reply.

Is there anyone else on PF who would like this figure? perhaps we can mount an assault...LOL

2 down and counting-I think it is a limited edition so we will probably be thwarted by the limit but it is worth trying. Having said that I have seen no mention of quantity perhaps it was just time limited? I fail so see the sense of Limited Editions to the producer apart from some forced sales (If a figure is good enough it will sell). What tends to happen is that they line the pockets of the secondary market on Ebay.

Keith

I fail to see the purpose of selling out a limited edition when clearly there are other buyers who don't know of it's existance, how many more could he have sold? It costs nothing to advertise on Planet Figure?......the Russians are good at it...LOL

Keith

I guess if your producing it yourself and cover your costs and make a little out of it thats fine and then you are free with your time to move onto the work involved with sculpting and marketing the next project. Long runs and mass production is a long drawn out tedious job.

Hi there folks

I have had a message from hm he has been a member for 10 or so years but will endeavour to post releases

In the same vein If I or anyone who uses FB sees a release then do post in Figure News with contact details

Agree entirely - love Maurizio's work - had wondered why we were seeing so little from him Any means of promotion is preferable to Facebook

Certainly two figures I would have liked to purchase, being an admirer of Maurizio's work. I was plonked onto facebook somewhat reluctantly, I might add, by my daughter, who wants me to keep up with latest trends ! Bloody 'ell, what for? Mind you, PeeDee got me to join a couple of modelling/painting sites, and I do look in from time to time,,but I certainly missed out with these two. Not that I would know how to purchase anything. Can't even post comments.......Stone Age Al, that's me.

According to data, the vast majority of FB users are now people like myself, who are "of a certain age..!" The kids have largely moved onto other media platforms like TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter, etc. FB itself isnt perfect and there are still some repetitive things which pop up now and again, but if you are careful with your settings and which groups you access, it's a convenient way of communicating with like minded people. You certainly dont have to read everything that crops up and you always have the option not to read posts or scroll past things you dont like. It is far more "instant" than forums, with responses coming much quicker and there is a much wider audience, so that is why I think more manufacturers are choosing to use it for launches...(y)

I admit that it's the image that too much goes through facebook, but unfortunately it's the ease that wins out over the rest, no need to translate, no need to do too much manipulation!
It is also our fault, me the first, I should have written a small article on this figurine that I will receive.
But I still think the sculptor or someone else will, especially when it's a Maurizio BRUNO figurine
I will try to be more careful to keep the members of PF informed of the news, too bad if there is a duplicate publication, better worth too much than not at all.
