Hi all,
I was cleaning my workspace the other day, wondering what I would do with all those head sketches I did.Instaed of throwing them away, I had the idea to use them for wall plaques.I even made a few new ones, just to complete the picture I had in mind. When I started out sculpting way back, the first sculptures were busts of a zombie, a werewolf, a vampire and a mummy.Ugly as hell, but you have to start somewhere, right?
I'm working on the exact same set, but now they are just faces on a cd-size plaque wich can stand on a shelve or hang on the wall.
Some might look familiar, but the zombie and the mummy are new.
Allthough this has not nearly the class of a bust, it's a neat and cheap item, and most importantly, you can focus all efforts on painting the face, untill further notice, still the most important part of any figure

Excellent! Bags of character and very clean.

(I assume you're using polymer clay. How do you find the colour/clay shapers work with it? A bunch of sculptors on Frothers Unite have started using polymer clay - mostly cernit - and found the shapers tend to catch and roughen the surface.)

I don't have that problem, but than again, I use very soft polymer and it works well for example skin texture.

I didn't like the cd plaque after all, so I changed the concept for the back plate. To refer to the name'Horror Heads' I integrated some heads and skulls in the base. It's a standard model, so all heads will have this one.For some heads there will be a slightly wider version.

The first 5 horror heads in final version.

Yes, 5.The wolfman made it in time. These are the final versions. The backplate is a detailed rock surface wich integrated skulls and little horror heads. This first wave is: The mummy, the vampire, the werewolf, the zombie and the werewolf 2(wolfman).
