WIP FeR Miniatures - Duryee's Zouave

Here is my current WiP. It is the FeR Duryee's Zouave bust in 1/16. Just mounted it on its base, but there is still lots to do. The face and leather work are in oils. The rest in acrylics.

Hey, Ross - that looks like a solid, and colorful, subject! The base is nice, too. I'm struggling with a couple of bases of my own; my bonsai instructor once pointed out to me that if someone walks up to a tree and comments on its pot, their attention is being drawn to the wrong place. While as I said, I like the base, it almost feels like it's competing with the bust for attention. I don't know how it's mounted, though, so it may not be practical to change horses at this point.

That said, your lines look crisp, the demarcations look clear, and I'll be most interested to see as it progresses. As a newbie, I'm still wrasslin' with how to thin properly for the finest detailing; your edging and detailing so far looks like you've got the hang of it.

A good subject choice nicely done so far , like the way you've done the shirt and the blue

Interesting the eyes have yet to be done ...having banana fingers I need to get the eyes done asp on mine ...lol

This is a 1/16th I like the base you have there but possibly overpowers the bust itself ...just my thoughts !

Have you seen the Zouave 1/12th release from FeR ......rather nice ...threads in Figure News here
