I know what you mean, the horse's neck doesn't look quite right somehow. It could just be the camera angle, I have seen this before, especially with mounted figures. The angle is from very low down, to compensate for the kepi that Jackson wears.

But let's not take away though - this is a superb looking figure and would make a project that I for one would relish. Overall I really do like this one. Overall, it's another hit for FeR.

I like the figure, but I have to agree about the horse's neck and he does look a bit large for Little Sorrel. This could be the result of photography.

Stonewall Jackson is some amazing figure.
As far as the horse concern: It looks not right. Looking at the pictures of this figure on the site of FeR miniatures. Every picture give's a strange horse.
The head is to much bend into the neck.
It looks like they took a seahorse as example for the horse.

Concerning Stonewalls horse I think, the head/neck transition is sculpted anatomically wrong.

And his only warhorse, "Litte Sorrel" was not only a fox, but for a horse also extrem small!

And "Little Sorrel's" neck looked cpmpletely different...:

Unfortunately, I do not know the English term for it - in German is called such a neck "Hirsch-Hals" ("deer neck")

Summary: Horse..

- is too large
- has the wrong color
- has the wrong neck form.

My recommendation: Re-sculpt the horse - based on "Traveller" of General Lee, where the height seems right...:

Only neck and and tail would have to be changed!

Cheers

A big problem with some mounted figures is that they are just put on a horse. I didn't this was a specific horse in which case it is wrong.

Horses vary greatly from breed to breed. My favourite are Lusitanos which are generally fearless and rounded with a Roman nose and are a favourite for stunt work. Game of thrones is full of them. You have Arabians that have a concave head profile and are fine in shape. Andalusians can vary but are similar to Lusitanos but can have a slight Arabian look. It goes on forever like dog breeds.

Andrea do a good 90mm cowboy on a quarter horse which whilst a but scraggy is spot on.

Friesans are another example. A black heavy set horse, good for driving and dressage and are often seen on film with Knight in armour. The most recent Lloyd’s advert had one.

Must get a Lusitano in the next year or two.

Andrew.

Yeaaah - Friesians!

I had one years ago! His name was "Fritz".

The best horses of all! Friesland, the home region of the Friesians is not far away from where I live...

Cheers
