Dear All

As the run up to Figureworld starts we will be periodically sending you information about what activities are planned for the day. You may already know some of the great events that are taking place on the day but we will have further announcements as some activities that are now in late planning stage come together and get finalised.

The place in between the announcements to keep a track on the day is at the Figureworld website (http://www.tbfigureworld.co.uk) where today we posted the preliminary list of traders, something for everyone to buy we think as we know modellers have a great urge to spend.

Below is a little taster of what is to come.

For 2011 the seminars will be delivered by, Euro Militaire Best of Show winning, Chris Clayton. These will be held in a dedicated room, where attendees can find out how Chris goes about creating his award-winning models.

One of the most talked about aspects of Figure World 2010 was the complementary bust given to 30 exhibitors. This will be repeated in 2011. Every exhibitor of three or more items, receives a raffle ticket. Thirty of these are drawn during the day and the winners receive a specially commissioned bust free of charge. Look on The Basement Forum to see Adrian Hopwood’s series of postings on painting 2011’s bust.

Visitors to Figure World 2010 commented on the great range of traders present. For 2011 the trade area has been extended and new manufacturers and retailers have booked stands to add to the repeat bookings from last year’s traders.

The demonstration area in 2010 was very well attended. In 2011 more top flight demonstrators have agreed to share their knowledge and the area will be bigger with more space to see what they are doing.

For those staying all day there are light refreshments available in the venue and for those wanting something more substantial there are a good range of eateries in the town of Oundle, only a few minutes walk from the venue.

If you are a figure modeller, don’t miss out on the only event in the UK that has been put on to meet your needs.

If you have any comments then please mail us or grab one of us at any event

We look forward to seeing you there

Traders at FigureWorld 2011

All,

FigureWorld is rapidly approaching. Last year we had very positive feedback from those that attended the show. However, at The Basement we don’t like to rest on our laurels and we are constantly looking to see how we can improve what we offer. One of the most important ingredients of a good show is a varied selection of traders; so visitors with a wide range of interests can find something (or often many things) they would like to add to their collection or workbench. Our new, larger venue for FigureWorld 2011 enables us to increase the number of traders attending. Because the show established such a good reputation in 2010 we have had many traders wanting to attend. This has allowed us to broaden the choice of what is on offer.

From the list below you can see that we have an excellent mix of figure manufacturers and retailers who will bring a wide range of figures and accessories to meet all tastes. To this we have added companies selling bases and tools and not forgetting that important source of reference the book stand. At the time of writing we have several companies on a reserve list and we hope to create space to accommodate them too. You will also have noticed The Basement has its own stand. We will have advance notice of future masterclasses here plus some exciting new products that we will tell you about nearer the event.

Our aim is to hold the best figure-only modelling event in the UK. We believe that the traders who are attending FigureWorld this year will help us in achieving this aim.

We hope to see you all at FigureWorld 2011 on July 23rd. To keep up to date with developments check out the website: www.tbfigureworld.co.uk

Chris Clayton Seminar at FigureWorld 2011

Another update on the show...

In 2010, FigureWorld hosted a demonstrators area, with several top British painters and sculptors working to show attendees how they produced the beautiful pieces that they thrill us all with.

In 2011 we’ve gone one step further, and whilst there will still be several highly skilled demonstrators working through the day, there will also be two special seminars hosted by Chris Clayton.

Chris is well known for his superb fantasy models that he sculpts or heavily converts to produce stunning pieces of such high quality he’s won several Golden Demons, three Euro Militaire Gold medals and in 2010 won the Euro Militaire Best of Show for his Dragon Slayer.

Chris has agreed to host two seminars at the show, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, allowing people the chance to hear him speak about his modelling and some of the techniques he uses to produce certain pieces.

Each seminar will be approximately an hour long and open to limited numbers ( approximately 30 people per seminar )

There is a small charge of £3.00 per person for each seminar, and tickets can only be bought on the day at the entrance desk. All profits from this are being donated to charity.

For those who might be interested in the Chris Clayton Masterclass later in the year, this is an idea opportunity to see Chris hosting a seminar and allows you to see just some of the things that he will be covering in a lot more depth at the weekend Masterclass.

Late last year Chris began his own kit company, and a display of his painted models, plus a trade stand carrying his products will be at FigureWorld 2011.

As usual, the Basement team are working to make FigureWorld 2011 an even better event that in 2010; the Chris Clayton Seminars are just one more reason that you should be there.

FigureWorld the Traders

Figureworld 2011 – the Traders !

With FigureWorld getting close, you might be wondering what trade stands will be in the hall to tempt money from your wallet or your purse.

Last year there were six traders in the main hall – SK Miniatures, El Greco, Hawk Miniatures, Victory Miniatures, MDC and NameIt, plus there was Maelstrom Games – the venue for the show – with their numerous lines of wargame models downstairs in their shop.

This year – with the new venue being Oundle school, FigureWorld has been gifted a much larger main hall, and with that comes the opportunity to invite a lot more traders.
In fact, instead of seven traders, in 2011 FigureWorld has a total of twenty one; yes, twenty one different trade stands spread between twenty six trade tables.
The list of traders present this year, in alphabetical order is:-

Avid Reader – Vast assortment of reference books
BNS Miniatures – Basing materials, decorative pre-cast bases and plinths.
El Greco Miniatures – Agents stocking figures from over fifty five different model company ranges.
Elodie Mae – Small scale figures.
Friendship Models – Stockists of Wee Friends, Wee Bits, Legends figures and Sovereign models.
Gigantic Miniatures – Large scale fantasy figures by award winning sculptor Chris Clayton.
Hawk Miniatures – Large scale historical busts and figures.
Imperial Gallery – Large scale historical figures and busts.
Joek Miniatures – Small scale fantasy figures.
Little Cars – Paints, tools, airbrushes and compressors.
Mil-Mart models – Fantasy and historical busts, figures and flats.
Model Display Products – Decorative scenic pre-cast bases and accessories.

Reedees Miniatures – Large scale historical miniatures.
SK Miniatures – Agents stocking figures from over forty five different figure company ranges.
Studio McVey – Small scale fantasy figures.
The Base 2B – Bespoke Wood plinths.
The Basement – Exciting news coming soon.
Victory Models – Large scale figure kits.

As you can see there’s something to please everyone, and some of these companies will be releasing new kits on the day of the show.
The traders, and the new releases – two more good reasons to make our way to Oundle school, Oundle, near Peterborough PE8 4GH, on the 23rd of July this year.

The Basement team.
