Well, its less than a week to FigureWorld and the excitement amongst The Basement team has begun to rise to pretty high levels, we are making plans to meet for set up on the day before so we can be all ready for you all when you arrive.

One thing that has been the subject of one or two chats over at TB amongst the team is the display and what it should or shouldn't contain with the aim of the show to bring figure modellers together, so we between us have authored a set of rules to let everyone know whats can be accepted and what can't, the guys in charge of the display area will be able to give you a definitive answer on the day if your unsure of a model, if they says its OK then its OK, if they say the opposite then well I am sure you will understand, especially as we are expecting modellers of all ages.

If you have any questions about the rules then please contact us either through the forum or webzine

The rules are at the end of this mail and on the webzine at http://www.tbfm.co.uk and at the forum on http://www.tbforum.co.uk

We also promised a list of traders on the day so here it is:

Maelstrom Games….their shop is on site and well worth a roam round, you will be surprised at the extent of some of the ranges and they carry extensive basing materials.

ElGreco Miniatures…..Matt and Celine need no introduction to most who are coming, some great models to be had on their stand, some of them from Matt's own hand, they are friendly and always go that extra mile for their customers.

SKMiniatures…a lot of us have known Steve for years as a modeller now he has turned supplier he's got ranges everyone likes to buy, his stand will be worth a visit.

Hawk Miniatures.. Jon stocks a great range of busts and one or two unusual things if your bag is Busts especially First World War then have a look he will have something to tickle your fancy

Victory Miniatures…Great range of large scale figures mainly from the Napoleonic era, these figures look great painted up

MDC. A range of busts that covers from Zombie Romans through to Fantasy and sci-fi pilots with everything in between, with accessories too for your figure building, have a look you just might find that tool your missing.

So lastly we thought we would like to make sure you know a few things, like a reminder of the times, the event is open from 10am to 5pm on the 10th July

Maps and all information such as Hotels are available on the webzine at http://www.tbfm.co.uk, theres a link at the top of the page to FigureWorlds own area.

The last thing is to remind you to bring your figures for display (remember that Bust) and that if you have any question please ask one of the organising team and if they don't know they will quickly find out for you.

Have a safe journey all, make sure you say HI when you get there.

The Basement Team.

Rules For Display Figures

1) The Figures have to be main focus of the piece.

The term figure covers all models depicting either single life forms, or their derivatives, and machines built in their likeness. Figures will be accepted from all genres, Historical, fantasy and Science Fiction.

2) Vehicles... can be displayed as long as they have a relevant number of crew alongside them, causing the crew to be the main feature as per point one.

For instance a Tiger II has a crew of 5... if all 5 are available, and shown in some interaction, replenishing the tank, repairing a track, in essence its a diorama where the crew are shown to be doing an activity etc.. This is allowed

3) Single Person modes of transport, including vehicles, animals etc.

As with the vehicles, the figure has to be the main focus of the piece, the rider can either be off or on the beast/vehicle.

4) Armour, as in suits be they powered or not.... The thing here is that the armour suit has to be a dedicated suit of armour to the person wearing it, its his/its armour....

5) Nudity, - No full nude figures will be allowed, as also no Topless female figures, any figure clothed or not that is deemed to sexually offensive will not be allowed.

6) Horror and Violence, whilst we know that this area is part of the hobby, models accessed as showing either too much violence and or too horrific will not be allowed to be displayed.

Hi Ross,

Looking forward to attending the show and catching up with everyone.

Also all being well I should have a few surprises on the stand at the show.

I will be stocking the Grey Matter Fantasy Figure range at the show too.

Ross,

Will you be bring your McCudden Bust along.

As I would like to see how your getting along with it.

Just as a reminder for anyone who is coming on Saturday we would love for you to bring some of your work along. There is an space put aside for individual displays. Just to quote:

At Figureworld you’ll have the chance to display your figures rather than putting them into a competition. To make the most of this is quite simple, and shown in the photos are a couple of small boxes capable of supporting the intended models for the display, and a small piece of cloth about 2 feet ( 600mm ) square.

The pictures are fairly self explanatory, but the simplest way to display things is to add height to some and leave others flat on the table. Here I’ve used a couple of boxes to raise two of the three models to different levels.

Covering the boxes makes it all look a lot neater, and also makes the models “belong” within their group.

Here is what we mean:

There will be wooden blocks and drapery for people to borrow if needed.

Looking forward to seeing people at what should be a great day.
