Hi Jay,

Thank you. Yes he will be in the back seat of the car for our
trek to Tulsa this year. I think he looks better in person.. so you
will get to "meet" him in Tulsa :)

Excellent painting and groundwork Dee. Look forward to seeing you all in Tulsa in a couple of months.

Looking good, Dee! Nice job on the groundwork! I agree with you that your color palette turned out well. As far as what you can improve on, I would encourage you to enhance your shading and highlighting. By this, I mean looking at the larger picture of the figure as a whole and not just the individual folds, creases, etc. The goal is to really get that overhead lighting effect (I believe some refer to this as the "zenith lighting" effect). Take the figure's stockings, for example. In the photo, it looks like they are pretty much the same color from the bottom of his pantleg to the top of his boot. Now visualize one of those stockings divided into three equal parts, from top to bottom. If you paint the top part one shade, then the middle part a slightly darker shade, and finally the bottom part an even darker shade (and blend the transitions) you will have a gradual darkening from top to bottom, thus simulating overhead lighting. It's easier to explain in person, but hopefully it makes sense? I'd be happy to talk with you about it sometime. Unfortunately I wont make Tulsa this year - but maybe Chicago?

Dee, Nice work. Hope you don't mind me taking the liberty of resizing the image for you. I think the comments made about the painting are what you can focus on with the next figure. Good luck at the show. ~Gary

Hi Jason W. Guy, Jason G. Gary, Vergilius, Roc, Marc, Stephan,

Thank you so very much. Glad you like it.

You will see this little guy at MFCA.
Will have him in the car for the trip to Tulsa also.

Jason G. .. thanks for the excellent comments. There was not many
folds so I was not sure what to do. I see what you mean, it makes sense.
I would like to talk more with you about it. I will have this one in Chicago
later this year. I will have to remember your comments and apply it to future figures. Thank you very much for taking the time to look and give me your thoughts.

Gary, I am glad you did re-size it... wish you could on that EXTRA LARGE
one of the front view. I think I need to probably make the picture extra small then try to post. The one bust I did turned out a pretty good size. But
thankyou...

Dee

Top stuff. Especially good is your treatment of his trousers. Very convincing. I am sure your results will be better still using a better kit.
