Five Oclock Shadow

Hello guys,
Done a few pieces but stalled out for the summer and am getting back into it.My interest is 1/10 and 1/9 busts.Could you help me in creating a five o clock shadow.I'm sure this has been asked before but unable to find any info.

The thread Carl posted was the one I was about to point you to Wayne. In case you have any doubts let me assure you that the 5 o'clock shadow colour is directly linked to the colour of the beard!

Shadow at 5 o'clock in the morning , in the afternoon, in plain summer, ??
Or light coming from the position of clock N° 5, below left, then directly from below the figure or far from the figure ?
I don't get it .

As Captnenglish said, it's that heavy growth a man, who shaves in the morning, has by the afternoon, hence the slang, "five o'clock shadow".

Or if you lived in Bedrock, you had it all day long

If using acrylics, you can mix Vallejo Flat Flesh with Prussian Blue - works great!

As housecarl's link points out, be careful with oils, by applying the 5 o'clock shadow after the face has dried. You don't want any blue in the shadow to mix with the reds in your flesh tones or you'll end up with weird purple cast to your figure's face.

Thank you both, Dave and Bill! I'm in the middle of painting a 1/20 Maschinen Krieger pilot, and I'm going to try these things out.
