Would really like to try a few flats due to eye sight the larger scales.......have ordered two to try
from mil-mart miniatures Ken .....I believe

Would like to know if these Tin Figures can be painted in Acrylics as a base paint in place from say humbrol matt... having no knowledge or experience... of this type of model and is there any reason
why the undercoat cant be applied lightly by airbrushing using if permissible acyrlics

or is it traditionally oils

Have ordered three Windsor Newton kolinsky brushes

Turpentine and a Medium Linseed oil arranged my oil paints........appreciate some guidance to travel in the right direction many thanks mike

You can use acrylics, oils, enamels--whichever you prefer. That's how I started out practicing with oils, to paint flats, "just like the Germans paint 'em." I think you're right about the tradition. But I don't think anyone'll trouble you about enforcing it. ;)

I've wound up using my oils more for weathering and detailing scale models than for figures, and using acrylics because I find them easier to use. I do mix acrylics and oils, though, for a quick way to paint faces on figures with my model kits. I like laying down a base of acrylic and using oils to do the shading. Since I started working with a wet palette, though, thanks to my buddy Scott (oldtrousers here on the Planet), I'm learning more how to do that with acrylics, too.

I only have flats in the smaller scales, though, too. 30mm or so.

Prost!
Brad
