Following a tip from fellow member Bluebottle I purchased this bust from The Forge of History and I’m delighted with it. It’s great value for money.
Forge of History via their eBay shop print a range of knights, gladiators and ancient Egyptians in a variety of scales 1/18 up to 1/6.
Some of the figures trip over into fantasy but there are some gems in the range.
They can adapt any figures from their range and print to order. This bust for example was only advertised as a full figure but they printed it as a bust upon request. I like some of the other knights and the gladiators are worth a look. The ancient Egyptians are certainly interesting. I’m advised by the manufacturer that a range of crusading knight will follow shortly. I’m keen to see the printed chain Mail.
This bust was advertised as being a 100mm bust but it works out at about 1/8 or 1/7……bigger than 1/9 but not as big as 1/6.
Although advertised as a generic “French Knight” the coat of arms and the period of the armour suggest that its either John Le Bon or the Dauphin.
The quality of the printing is first class….No visible print lines or any indication of where the print supports were attached. The figures was thoroughly cleaned up and sanded before despatch. The detail is really good, crisp and sharp. The mail and the texture/seams of the fabric are well rendered. Comes complete with base. The only thing I’m not sure about are the straps that would hold the pig/dog faced visor in place….but it wouldn’t be hard to remove these should I choose to do so.
I must stress that I have no connection with the manufacturer….simply a satisfied customer who will be buying more…..perhaps a full figure of a knight in 200mm scale!
