Hi everyone, this little vignette is of two little drummer boys and their pet dog having a break on a march in the early 1790’s. The figures are conversions of the same casting, a fairly simple figure produced by Aeroart some years ago. Hope you like it.

That's a lovely pairing and paintjob....and glad to see you have also found a source for 'pinstripe' figure decals too Terry!

Hope you are keeping well mate.

Hi Alan,

it’s a long standing joke between Gary (Redcap) and Keith (Tecumsea) that I have sourced a secret supply of detail decals to do stripes and freehand patterns etc. for 54mm models. I’m keeping shtum because I don’t want the little people from outer miniataurus to have their identity discovered. Oops I’ve just gone and done it. Seriously it’s all about brushes and concentration. Funnily enough on another thread started by Del, he asked about brushes and what type people used. For many years I have been a fervent advocate of W&N series 7, but recently when my latest 000 became past its best I thought I’d dig out some brushes I bought at Figureworld about 5 years ago from “The Brushman”. Well what a revelation, extremely fine points capable of painting the tiniest of details. I’m of the view that once you get to size 1 any old brush will do because I generally use these for colour blocking but when you get down to below size 0, that is when you need to use a seriously good brush. Can’t praise these brushes enough, I haven’t used them long enough to comment about longevity, but if I get the results I want and it works out at a brush per figure, I think that’s a price worth paying.

(y):D;) Cheers, Terry, I was blown away by your accuracy on the striping, and yes, there is no substitute for an excellent brush for the finest work. And supreme skill and patience, of course. You have proved that quite conclusively.
I've seen "The Brushman" at Euro in Folkestone, but regretfully didn't make any purchases....perhaps I ought to give him a try. I'm at the point now of reaching for the Optivisor every time I sit down for a session. That certainly exposes the state of one's brush points!

All the best
Alan

Excellent work Terry! Love the conversion and the 2 figure vignette!(y) Super job on the pantaloons! One of my favorite pieces in some time!
Thanks for sharing!:)

These are very nice figures, which you've painted to perfection
I wish my hand could be half as steady as yours, as demonstrated by your pinstripes.

Cheers,
Andrew
