A Fixture
This kit is one of Steve Warrilow's excellent 80mm lead figures. Steve's firm is The Fusilier and he lives in UK. His website is www.thefusilier.demon.co.uk. Almost all of his pieces are 80mm WWI figures and there's a lot to choose from. There are also a large number of accessories [rifles, Lewis MGs, Chauchat MGs, grenades, helmets, alternate heads, etc. For a trench scene, he's got everything from duckboards to trench walls and ladders.
The kit comes in the sturdy box shown and is well-packed and protected. I've ordered 14 of his kits and never had one that was damaged in transit and only one kit that was missing parts. I contacted Steve via e-mail and he shipped out the part [with free accessories] immediately.
The parts have a minimum of flash and nothing was warped or misshapen. They dry fit together nicely with minimum adjustment. Steve is particularly good with faces and figure anatomy. The British Hussar 1914 is standing holding a cup of tea with saucer in one hand and his sword and sheath in the other, looking like he's hot and tired and in need of refreshment.
The instructions come printed in one long strip. If I have any complaints about Steve's kits in general this would be it. The instructions could be improved by enumerating suggested assembly and painting steps clearly, providing a parts diagram or layout, and a color chart for the figure. Having said that, I've muddled through figures from other makers with either no instructions or the most minimal.
The Fusiler kits are reasonably priced in my opinion - $28 and up, depending on what's in the kit and the retailer mark-up. They don't appear to have been affected by currency fluctuations to the extend other European figure makers have been. I think Steve Warrilow is making the best 80mm World War I figures on the market today and this one is no exception.
