Following on from part 1 I did which featured the Sergeant 44th rgt of foot at Gandamak,I moved onto the 2nd part of the project which was the Bust of the Afghan Tribesman also produced by Stu Hale at Stormtroopers, and sculpted by Carl Reid.
Having painted in excess of nearly 80 busts now, this one gave me a real challenge in terms of the different materials involved within the piece, these were fur, turban, facial hair, skin tones, wood tones, sash, the sword, leather, all these aspects present challenges to the painter, and it’s one of the hardest busts I’ve painted.
Its a beautiful piece of art and beautifully sculpted by Carl and produced by Stu,on its initial release I didn’t purchase it and then it became discontinued, after some conversation with Stu he said he may re-release it which he did which enabled me to get it.
I doubt it will be released anymore,I think it is now discontinued.
I held it in my grey army for a while, and recently back in July I decided to do both the 44th and the Tribesman,it’s been a slow slog at times working between shift patterns, but I feel the effort was worth it,I’m very happy with the outcomes.
The tribesman lends itself perfectly for me as it’s a piece that needs to be weathered.
