Ola Guys
First topic here on this forum and I would like to kickoff with a scupt SBS. I would really appreciate any feedback as I am here to learn as much as I can.

This evening I completed the armature with copperwire, some hands, head and feet from the scrapbox (sculpting these items is still far beyond my capabilities) and after an evening of wire bending and posing and looking at it from a Gazzillion angles I settled on the pose visible in the pictures attached. The idea is that for every mechanic there is a guy who generally means well, Points a bit, acting wise but in the end has the technic abilities of a patch of Broccoli... somebody like me in fact. Thought it to be a fun scene.

Really curious to any and all feedback. Don't spare me at all.

With a friendly greet

Robert Blokker

Re: German Mechanic sculpt

I love the idea and think it has a great start. I'll be watching because that guy is me too.

Re: German Mechanic sculpt

Ok time for the first update.
I started with adding some meat to his bones. Not really that much of an artwork in that stage.. Just stiffening up the armature and giving something for the fabric layer to stick on.
Since the Armature thickening was already done yesterday it meant that today I could get some work done on his trousers and also added a belt.

Pictures are attached.

Re: German Mechanic sculpt

Update time (actually the progress of a few days)
I have made the right trouser leg. After that I sculpted the collar of his blouse and I created some of the small details on the pants like pocketflaps and the big pocket on the front of the left leg...(At least the pocket itself the flap still needs sculpting.)
The day after that I started on the blouse itself
And in the meantime fitting if it still goes well with his earlier sculpted buddy and the vehicle.

This leaves me with... well the right sleeve obviously. Finally deciding what I'm exactly going to do with the leftarm, and then some touchups. I probably will discover a lot of those touchup points after priming but we'll see about that later.

Any feedback is welcome

A side question... How does the image next to the topic before opening it change? I see With other peoples topics that it changes with their updates while I'm still stuck at the idiotic drawing I uploaded as first picture.

Robert

Ola Guys

Got another update. The figure is finished. Did the right sleeve and finished the right arm with rolled up sleeve. Looking at the pics I see some things I'd would have done different or probably could have made more refined but I will try to improve that on the next figure. Some parts will get cleaned up a bit and he will get a cigarette in his left hand and that's about it. off to painting.

And then the whole scene with both sculpts standing around the vehicle

Very curious to your feedback.

Turned out great! Robert, I have a feeling that your well on your way to being one of the best figure sculptors. Keep up the great work.

@Captfue
Thanks for the kind words and the confidence. Allthough I know I still got a long road to go. I can't sculpt heads, hands or shoes which either come from the well known manufacturers or from any old figure I have in the scrapbox

Hi Robert

It is not my age, but I'm very impressed and the pose of the figure Dynaik.
This is something I would want nir times for WWI.

Great, I'm looking forward to more.

Cheers

Thanks for the compliments. I'm glad you like the dynamic between the figures. It is something I spend quite a lot of time to get the interaction just right.
I have no idea really when it comes to WW1 figures. Are there a lot of figs available for that period?

As for the future..> Well I really hope to show more of my work. I got the spirit now.

I also like them a lot, Robert.
Wrinkles and folds look already very natural, maybe some refining on the hands ( nuckles).
I like the Kettenkraftrad also and it's refreshing to see it beeing used for the mock up.

I am also sure your spirit will drag you through the head sculpting proces too.

Thanks for your reply.
I agree the hands are a bit rough in some spots but I kept them that way as they were from Legend (I believe) So I did not fiddle too much with them. As for using the Kettenkrad... Being quite new to this whole sculpting thing it seemed totally logic to me to do it this way as it is the best way to make sure the vehicles match and interact with the vehicle.

I think I will give sculpting a head a try at the next project.

Ola René
That are actually some very good results. It's funny as you have now quite sparked my interest to give it a try. I'm currently even thinking up ways in my head how I can make it work with Magic Sculp as that is what I currently have at hand.
